Have you ever patterned something out, fitting to yourself and you've spent a lot of time trying to get all the details in there and then you go build up the piece only to find that the finished piece looks nothing like it does on the character?  It's likely that your focus while patterning was on the details and you forgot to focus on the silhouette of the cosplay armor piece base before jumping into the layers and details.  I'm not saying you have to have the exact body shape of a character to make a good cosplay, in fact, quite the opposite, taking the time to look past some of the details and focusing on the silhouette of the armor piece before doing the details can help you achieve a more accurate and spot-on look regardless of your body type!  It also helps you to wonder where you may have gone wrong in your patterning even though you got all the details perfect.  Tune in for this video and I'll show you my tricks for creating a solid base of the pattern before moving on to the details using a technique I refer to as silhouetting.

Let me know what Cosplay Questions you might have and I will answer them in a video on this channel!
